Our Story

Nearly two centuries ago, members of the Frederick community established an orphan house to provide care and education for children who lacked stable parental support.
As the needs of the community changed over time, the orphan house fulfilled its original purpose, but its legacy did not end.
The resources entrusted to the orphan house became an educational endowment dedicated to supporting future generations of young people.
Today, the Historic Orphan House Scholarship carries that legacy forward. While families and communities have changed over the years, one belief remains constant:
